CTIWR Kennard Water Resources Lectures, Oct 29th and 30th

“Hydrologic Information Systems”

Dr. Richard Hooper
President and Executive Director of CUAHSI

As a part of the CTIWR Kennard Water Resources Lectures, Dr. Richard Hooper, President and Executive Director of CUAHSI, will be presenting two talks on the CUAHSI Hydrologic Information System project.  The goals of the CUAHSI-HIS are to unite the nation's water information, to make it universally accessible and useful, and to provide access to the data sources, tools and models that enable the synthesis, visualization and evaluation of the behavior of hydrologic systems.

·  Thursday, October 29, 2 PM,
Auditorium, CT DEP
, Hartford:  
“A Simplified Approach to Data Publication and Sharing using Web Services.”  

In this first talk, at the DEP, Richard will discuss the experience of the Texas state agencies with responsibility for water management and their experience in integrating water information databases across organizations using the CUAHSI tools.

·   Friday, October 30, 2 PM,
Room 100, W.B. Young Building, UCONN Storrs Campus: 
Advancing Environmental Research through Data Sharing.” 

In this second talk, at UCONN, Richard will give provide a look “under the hood” of the web-based tools, geared towards a more technically inclined audience. WHO SHOULD ATTEND:  Anyone who uses or is responsible for maintaining water information that may be used by multiple organizations, especially those with responsibility for managing the supporting information systems.
