Projects and Activities

Revised: November 9, 2004

  • IWR Research and Information Transfer Projects: This page contains a
list of projects either currently or previously funded by CT IWR. Some
proposal, abstracts and final reports are available here.
  • Golf Course Water Management Project: In 2001, the Institute collaborated with
the CT Department of Environmental Protection on an Information Transfer
Project related to golf course water management. As a part of this project,
IWR chaired an Advisory Committee charged with developing a set of
Best Management Practices for Golf Course Water. A conference was held
in the Fall of 2001 where the committee's report was presented and discussed.
  • .Fenton River Project: As part of the impact assessment of UConn’s water use, The CT IWR has been awarded a research grant to investigate the relationships between fish habitat and instream flow for a section of the Fenton River from Old Turnpike Road to Mansfield Hollow Lake. The overall goal of the study is to develop relationships between instream flow rates in the Fenton River and habitat availability for selected fish species and life stages.
  • Water Policy, Planning and Legislation: While the CT IWR is not currently actively involved in any policy and planning projects, it occasionally participates in statewide committee activity such as the subcommittees initially formed by the statewide Water Planning Council in 2003. We will continue to maintain a bibliography of reference material that will be useful to those developing water policy for the state of Connecticut.
